The National Automotive Design and Development Centre (NADDC) has partnered with stakeholders in the sector to celebrate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 74th birthday through the Tinubu Turbo Fest 2026, an event aimed at unearthing and refining hidden and overlooked talents in Nigeria’s automotive and motorsports industry.
Speaking at the event in Abuja, NADDC Director-General, Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, described the sector as a “hidden gem of backyard brilliance,” noting that Nigeria possesses abundant talent in autosports that requires nurturing and global exposure. “What Autosport entails is a business—and a big business at that,” he said.
Osanipin explained that the Tinubu Turbo Fest is both a tribute to the President and a celebration of national unity.
“We are celebrating the spirit of Renewed Hope and the vision of a leader who has inspired innovation and modernisation in our industries,” he said. “This event displays power, precision, and technical mastery, reflecting the ingenuity and commitment of our youth under President Tinubu’s leadership.”
The NADDC chief emphasised that motorsports is more than just modifying vehicles; it is a demonstration of applied science, technical know-how, and problem-solving—qualities he linked to Tinubu’s approach to governance. “Every modification, safety check, and lab analysis here is a testament to a leader who challenges us to be innovative, safer, and better,” he added.
He concluded by noting that the event is a showcase of Nigeria’s automotive potential and a reflection of Tinubu’s belief in the country’s ability to rise to new heights.
“As we celebrate the President’s birthday, let this gathering be a tribute to his vision and a signal that a new Nigeria is possible, and that new Nigeria is here,” Osanipin said.
