The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aleke, has warned personnel against any act of indiscipline that undermines democratic order.

Air Marshal Aneke issued the warning during a meeting with Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding and Unit Commanders at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters Abuja, on Wednesday.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains loyal to the democratically elected government. We will not tolerate indiscipline or unlawful conduct within our ranks,” he warned.

In January, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) confirmed an attempted coup by a group of officers targeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. Investigations have implicated 16 officers, who are now scheduled to face a court-martial.

In a statement on its official X handle, the NAF Chief condemned any attempt to undermine democratic order, warning that its leadership would not tolerate indiscipline among any personnel.

He reaffirmed the Service’s loyalty to the Constitution.

The NAF Chief urged senior commanders to pursue operational excellence with unity, discipline, and strategic clarity as the Service advances into a new phase of leadership.

The CAS described his engagement.with the senior officers as “a vital platform for reflection” following his first 100 days in office. He noted that recent operational visits across commands revealed the sacrifices and dedication of personnel, stressing that the moment demands renewed focus and collective resolve.

“Together, we will continue to build a highly motivated, professional, and mission-ready force capable of delivering decisive airpower effects in synergy with surface forces,” he said.

He emphasized that the global and regional security environment remains volatile, with instability in the Sahel, the spread of extremist violence, and shifting geopolitical alignments directly affecting Nigeria’s defence posture.

While noting security improvements in some regions, the NAF Chief stressed that insurgency, banditry, and emerging extremist threats demand sustained pressure and an adaptive strategy.

He reminded commanders that, with elections approaching, the Nigerian Air Force must uphold absolute professionalism and maintain political neutrality.
