A pressure group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned Senator Ahmed Wadada against intimidating opponents.
The Nasarawa APC Integrity Forum accused the Senator representing Nasarawa West of leveraging his purported closeness to powerful forces to gain an "undue advantage" in the governorship race.
In a joint statement by the spokespersons of the forum, Zamani Daniel and Ibrahim Tukur, in Abuja, the group expressed dismay over Wadada’s alleged claims that he would be "hand-picked" for the party’s ticket, bypassing the democratic process.

The Forum reminded all contenders that with the adoption of direct primaries by party stakeholders, the power to choose the next flagbearer rests solely with the card-carrying members of the APC in Nasarawa.
"Anyone who thinks he is popular enough should market himself to the people," the group stated. "Let Nasarawa citizens and party members choose who is best for them… aspirants should market themselves to the people rather than use crooked means to get endorsement."
The Integrity Forum claimed the Senator is attempting to "arm-twist" formidable opponents.
"Political aspiration is within the constitutionally guaranteed rights of every citizen. Everyone should be free to pursue their political aspirations without fear or hindrance. A situation where a contestant resorts to undemocratic tactics to scare away fellow aspirants is not only undesirable but dangerous to our democracy."
