A former Executive Chairman  of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and 2027 Governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, Engr Prof Mohammed Sani Haruna yesterday said he will participate in the APC Governorship Primaries in the State.

He said he will contest for the governorship ticket against Sen. Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, who has been endorsed by the governor.

He explained that Governor Abdullahi Sule has done so much for the development of the state and he has the needed experience to take over from him and build on his legacies.

"We pray that God support him and make him to complete all the projects he has started for the benefits of the people of Nasarawa State, indeed his actions are worthy of emulations.

He spoke yesterday at his campaign office in Keffi during a consultation meeting organize by the committee on contact and Mobilization of his campaign team with the various leaders of the support groups to take a decision on the recent political development in the State.

Governor Sule had on the 16th of April 2026 announced Senator Wadada as his preferred choice for the APC Governorship ticket in Nasarawa State, and urged his supporters and all government appointees to mobilise votes for Senator Wadada to emerge victorious at the primaries.

Prof Haruna said, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has contributed a lot to what he achieved in NASENI and his success story won't be complete without mentioning him.

"When he was not the president and we ran into hitches, for over 34 years after establishment of NASENI, the statutory funding was not realized and we developed a template, we achieved progress in commencement of assignments and collection of the NASENI industrial Levy as one of the statutory funds

"A new chairman of federal Inland Revenue, Tunde Fowler was appointed and he refused to allow us access to funds. We went to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu when he was not even contesting in his house in Lagos, and on his instructions, the Chairman listened to us and the industrial Levy was commenced

"So, if you are celebrating our achievements in NASENI, please remember the contribution of President Tinubu" he said

The University don said, as chairman of the APC Governorship Aspirants Forum in Nasarawa West Senatorial district, they all agreed and assured the governor that whoever he picks among them, they will support.

He said little did he know that the governor will go for one who is not qualified based on the standard he set.

He explained further that before the announcement of the choice of Wadada, Governor Sule had spoken in different fora on the criteria of the person he wants as his successor.

He said Wadada does not fit into any of the qualities the xgovernor mentioned.

"The governor has spoken in many forums describing the  attitudes of the person that will be suitable as candidate to succeed him, at the end of the day, he selected somebody that is disqualified already.

"In all the descriptions of His Excellency, the character of the person he wishes will succeed him, he picked someone who is disqualified," he said.

He said his records of performance are spread across Nasarawa State, particularly the western Senatorial zone where he comes from, adding that he has all it takes to be governor of the sstate and he is contesting based on his records and competence.

He explained further that he started supporting APC in Nasarawa State when it was Congress For Progressive Change by sponsoring many House of Assembly, House of Representative and Senate candidates in addition to donating offices and communication gadgets across the State.

He said that President Tinubu is fully aware of his contributions to the party and the development of this country.

He therefore accepted the decision of his supporters not to step down for Senator Wadada but to go ahead and contest the Primaries "I hereby declared that I have accepted your decision and will go ahead to purchase the Governorship nomination form, to be screened and qualified to contest the Primaries”

He urged his supporters to keep their membership cards safe and come out in their numbers to queue behind him to clinch the governorship ticket of the party.

Those who spoke at the meeting were the campaign zonal coordinators of Nasarawa West , Pastor Benjamin Baka, that of Nasarawa South, Barr Ibrahim Adekaa who told the representatives of the various campaign groups to go back and mobilise support for Prof Haruna to win the primaries.
