The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled an expansive digital media strategy ahead of its weekend National Convention, with plans to reach at least 100 million Nigerians and a global audience of 400 million through a coordinated “new media” infrastructure.

The initiative was disclosed on Tuesday during the inaugural meeting of the National Convention Sub-Committee on Digital and New Media, held at the Niger State Governors’ Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.

Party officials likened the scale of the operation to the advanced digital campaign models deployed by the Republican Party and the Democratic Party in the United States.

Co-chairman of the committee and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, urged members to look beyond the convention and align their efforts with the broader “Renewed Hope” agenda of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

“We are depending on you to reach millions of our members in their homes,” Kalu said. “It is your duty to utilise all digital platforms to showcase what we have achieved and project to the world that there is a party in Africa committed to real democracy.”

He described the committee as a critical bridge between the party leadership and grassroots supporters, charging members to project the APC as an organised and forward-looking political platform.

Inaugurating the committee, Niger State Governor and Chairman of the panel, Mohammed Umaru Bago, called for dedication and sacrifice in executing the assignment. He said the committee’s mandate includes amplifying the achievements of the Tinubu administration and promoting the party’s growing national footprint.

“Today we received the 32nd governor for the APC, and tomorrow we will receive the 33rd,” Bago said, pointing to what he described as the party’s increasing momentum ahead of the convention.

Providing details of the technical framework, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital and New Media, O’tega Ogra, said the strategy would deploy a mix of digital tools to ensure widespread information dissemination.

“We have a target to reach at least 100 million Nigerians and, broadly, 400 million people globally,” Ogra stated. “This will be achieved through a combination of digital platforms designed to engage both local and international audiences effectively.”

The strategy includes real-time streaming, interactive social media engagement, and the development of localised content aimed at showcasing the APC’s democratic credentials to a global audience.
