The APC Youth Network West Africa has formally endorsed the re-election of Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru as National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s forthcoming National Convention.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the group said its endorsement reflects confidence in Basiru’s leadership capacity, administrative competence, and commitment to strengthening the party’s institutional framework and unity.

“Senator Basiru’s tenure as National Secretary has been defined by consistency, discipline, and a deep understanding of party administration. His contributions have played a critical role in enhancing internal coordination, reinforcing party structures, and sustaining organisational stability at all levels,” the statement read.

The group emphasised the need for continuity in leadership, noting that strategic consolidation remains crucial to the party’s future, particularly at a time when internal cohesion is key.

It also commended Basiru’s openness to youth engagement and his efforts to foster collaboration between party leadership and young stakeholders across Nigeria and the diaspora.

Speaking on the endorsement, Director-General of the group, Gideon Olatunde Igbasan, who also serves as West Africa Coordinator for Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN) and West Africa Director of the City Boy Movement, described Basiru as a seasoned administrator with a firm grasp of party structures.

“At this critical stage, continuity is not just desirable—it is necessary for stability, consolidation, and sustained progress within the APC,” Igbasan said. “His re-election will further strengthen internal coordination and deepen inclusive engagement across all levels of the party.”

The group urged delegates and stakeholders of the APC to support Basiru’s return as National Secretary in the interest of continuity, stability, and sustained progress.
