Bayelsa State's Commissioner for Education, Dr Gentle Emelah, has received the 2nd   National School Volleyball Championship trophy and gold medal after the Ijaw National Academy defeated Lagos State in the women's final at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, at the weekend.

The Nigeria School Sports Federation coordinator for Bayelsa State, Godwin Adagbo, presented the trophy and medal to the commissioner at his residence on Monday.

The victory by Ijaw National Academy over their Lagos State counterparts in the women's volleyball final was described as a feat that brought pride and honour to Bayelsa State.

Receiving the honour, Emelah expressed joy at the historic achievement and reiterated the state government's resolve to harness raw talent through school sports.

He commended the Ijaw National Academy school management, coaches, and Adagbo for the honour they had brought to Bayelsa State.
