The Nigerian Navy has rescued seven persons after a collision between a Tantita patrol boat and a wooden market boat at the Ogboinbiri waterways in Southern Ijaw Local, Bayelsa State.
The service said personnel of NNS Soroh were deployed to the scene after a distress call, adding that they swiftly conducted a search-and-rescue operation.
The victims, the Navy said, were evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment, while efforts continue to locate other missing persons.
The Navy said the operation reflects its commitment under the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, to protect lives within Nigeria’s maritime environment.
It also reaffirmed its readiness to continue deploying personnel and assets for rapid response to emergencies across the nation’s waterways.
