The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro, has said the country needs Humanitarian Trust Fund for result-oriented poverty reduction.
He also stated that the establishment of the trust fund will have a positive impact on all and the nation's economy in general.
Dr. Doro said this when the Arch. Bishop of Abuja, Arch. Bishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama and a team of Priests paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
In a statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry, Janet Noah, the minister explained that the fight against poverty requires resources, adding that the government alone cannot fund the project, hence the need for a trust fund.
He also added that there was need to find a creative way of sourcing the funds to get the vulnerable populace out of poverty and become economically viable.

He called on development partners and philanthropists to join hands with the federal government through his office to make Nigeria a better place for all.
Doro, while stating that the Government of President Bola Tinubu was concerned about every citizen's welfare, commended religious leaders for working and supporting government efforts in taking care of the vulnerable.
The Minister noted that the ministry is designing the "One Humanitarian, One Poverty Reduction System programme" that would enable persons of concern to exit poverty and live with dignity.
Earlier, the Archbishop said the purpose of the visit was to seek partnership with the Federal government to address the plight of the vulnerable households.
Kaigama said, "We meet a lot of people in the villages who are in dire need to survive and that informed our decision to come and interact with you and to see where the government can come in, since we can only do a portion. We are seeking partnership with the government in areas of uplifting the vulnerable in the society."
