Ebienfa said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will lead the Nigerian delegation, while the European Union delegation is expected to be led by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms. Kaja Kallas.

The European delegation was scheduled to arrive in Abuja yesterday.

Ebienfa also said the meeting aims to review Nigeria–EU relations and advancing cooperation across key sectors of mutual interest.

A joint media briefing is expected to be held after the ministerial meeting, where outcomes of the dialogue and areas of enhanced cooperation will be communicated to the public.

The eighth Nigeria–EU Ministerial Dialogue provides an important platform for both parties to deepen engagement in areas including trade and investment, security cooperation, governance, migration, climate action, and sustainable development. The dialogue underscores the strong and evolving partnership between Nigeria and the European Union, anchored on shared values of multilateralism, mutual respect, and strategic cooperation.

The statement added: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the European Union and looks forward to a productive and forward-looking engagement.”
