Nigerian musicians earned over N60 billion from Spotify in 2025, demonstrating the country's booming music streaming market and the global popularity of Afrobeats and other Nigerian genres.

According to Spotify's annual Loud & Clear report, revenue from Nigerian artists on the platform skyrocketed by 140% in just two years, driven by local and global demand.

In 2025, Nigerian artists generated 30.3 billion streams and 1.6 billion listening hours on Spotify. This included 1.3 billion discovery plays by new listeners, a 26% jump from 2024.

The country's artists dominated Spotify Nigeria's Daily Top 50 chart, accounting for over 80% of tracks.

The report also highlighted significant growth among emerging creators in Nigeria's music scene.

Local streams of Nigerian female artists increased by 55% year-on-year, while streams of independent artists grew by 75%.

In 2025, independent artists and labels accounted for about 58% of all royalties generated by Nigerian artists on Spotify, underscoring their growing influence in the country's music economy.

Spotify's editorial support played a key role in artist discovery, with nearly 2,000 Nigerian artists added to editorial playlists.

Globally, Nigerian artists appeared in nearly 320 million user-generated playlists, alongside over 12 million playlists created by listeners in Nigeria.

In total, more than 60 million playlists featuring Nigerian artists were created on Spotify in 2025.

The report also revealed an evolving music landscape in Nigeria, with genres like pop urbaine, alternative pop, anime, emo, and drill experiencing rapid growth, signaling shifting audience tastes.
