A Nigerian disc jockey (DJ) is set to attempt a Guinness World Record with a 72-hour non-stop livestream, it emerged on Friday.

The event, tagged Mobi’s Mixathon, is structured as a continuous DJ performance expected to run for three days without interruption, under strict technical conditions required for official record validation.

The Abuja-based DJ, Amaobi Udeh, otherwise known as VDJ Mobi, said the attempt aims to secure a Guinness World Record while also mobilising support for girl-child education and menstrual health awareness.

He said the attempt is designed not only as a record-breaking performance but also as a platform to draw attention to challenges affecting girls’ access to education, particularly those linked to a lack of menstrual hygiene support.

The initiative is being carried out in partnership with the FAB Treasure Foundation.

Regarding the social impact component, VDJ Mobi said the collaboration with FAB Treasure Foundation aims to support girls by providing sanitary products and educational resources. He said the campaign will utilize the livestream's visibility to raise awareness about menstrual health and school attendance challenges.

He added that the broader objective is to link entertainment with social advocacy, describing the project as “mixing for a cause” to amplify conversations around girl-child education.

VDJ Mobi said the project is driven by his experience in the Nigerian creative industry, where he has worked as a wedding and corporate DJ.

He said the attempt reflects an effort to showcase the endurance and technical capacity of Nigerian DJs on a global stage, while also highlighting Abuja in an international entertainment context.

According to Udeh, the idea was developed as part of a broader push to scale creative work beyond local events and position Nigerian talent within global record benchmarks.

"My partnership with FAB Treasure Foundation on menstrual hygiene and girl-child education is very personal to me. In our society, many girls miss school or lose confidence simply because they lack basic sanitary support or mentorship.

"Through this record attempt, I want to amplify this cause. Entertainment should have meaning; we aren't just playing music, we’re 'mixing for a cause.' Our goal is to use the visibility of the MobiMixathon to provide resources and opportunities, ensuring that the 'girl child' in our communities feels seen, supported, and empowered to chase her own 'world-record' sized dreams," he said.

He said the project also reflects his professional journey since 2022.

The livestream will run continuously for 72 hours, with requirements including uninterrupted music playback, compliance with Guinness World Record rules on track repetition, and sustained technical performance throughout.

Organisers said songs will not be repeated within a four-hour window in line with the guidelines.

The DJ said the record attempt will be supported by a structured operational plan to manage expected challenges, including sleep deprivation, equipment stability, and environmental conditions such as power supply and heat management.

He said provisions have been made for short scheduled breaks in line with record rules, as well as technical fail-safes to ensure uninterrupted streaming.

The organisers also said a minimum number of live viewers will be maintained throughout the broadcast.

The organisers said that if the record attempt is successful, it will be used to expand platforms for Nigerian creative talent, including plans to scale event concepts such as the Throwback Silent Disco Experience across African cities.

VDJ Mobi also called for support from both public- and private-sector stakeholders, saying the creative industry requires stronger infrastructure and partnerships to scale its global visibility.

He appealed to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, as well as people of goodwill around the world, to support the initiative by following the livestream at mixcloud.com/vdjmobi.
