The Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Lagos State Chapter, Dr. Babajide Kehinde Saheed, has dismissed claims of his purported removal from office, describing the move as unconstitutional, unlawful, and without any legal effect.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Lagos, Saheed said his attention had been drawn to an announcement by a group of individuals claiming to have removed him from office. He maintained that the action violated the association's constitution, which clearly outlines procedures for the election, tenure, and removal of elected officers.

According to him, none of the constitutional provisions guiding such a process were followed, rendering the purported removal invalid.

“This action is not only unlawful but also constitutes a clear violation of the Constitution of the Nigerian Medical Association,” he said, adding that the development “lacks any legal foundation, constitutional validity, or institutional recognition.”

Saheed stressed that he was duly elected by the general membership of the association and remains the legitimate office holder. He described attempts to remove him through what he termed 'irregular and unauthorized means' as null and void.

He reassured members, stakeholders, and the public that the leadership of the Lagos chapter remains committed to upholding the rule of law, transparency, and democratic principles.

He therefore urged members to disregard any directives or communications from individuals or groups not recognized by the association, warning that such actions could undermine the unity and constitutional order of the body.
