NNL Super Four set for explosive finale in Ikenne
The stage is set for a thrilling climax to the second-tier season as the Nigeria National League Super Four descends on Ikenne, with ambition, redemption, and bragging rights at stake

The stage is set for a thrilling climax to the second-tier season as the Nigeria National League Super Four descends on Ikenne, with ambition, redemption, and bragging rights at stake across five intense days from today.
To be hosted at the Remo Stars International Stadium, the 2026 Super Four brings together four conference champions — Sporting Lagos, Ranchers Bees, Doma United, and Inter Lagos — all already promoted to the top flight but still competing for the ultimate crown and a ₦10 million prize.
The round-robin format, a genuine test of consistency, depth, and tactical maturity, ensures that every point could prove decisive in determining the champion.
NNL Chairman George Aluo struck an optimistic tone ahead of the tournament, saying the enhanced prize structure signals greater ambitions for the league. "This is just the beginning of good things to come. We are committed to improving the league and rewarding excellence. I must thank the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, the NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, and our sponsors for their immense support," he said.
Sporting Lagos arrive in Ikenne with momentum after edging out Akwa United by a single point in a tightly contested Southern Conference B finish. A decisive 1–0 away win over Osun United on the final day demonstrated their composure under pressure, and their proximity to the host venue is expected to generate strong fan turnout, effectively turning their fixtures into near-home affairs.
Ranchers Bees, meanwhile, emerged from a fiercely competitive Northern Conference D, outlasting Jigawa Golden Stars, Yobe Desert Stars, and Gombe United in a campaign defined by grit rather than glamour. The long journey from Kaduna to Ikenne, however, may hinder their support base and test overall morale.
Nicknamed the Savannah Tigers, Doma United carry the weight of a redemption mission. Relegated two seasons ago and denied promotion on the final day in Asaba last year, they were the first side to confirm NPFL promotion this season — a testament to their consistency and resolve.

Inter Lagos arguably navigated the most demanding path to qualification, overcoming Beyond Limits, Heartland FC, Sunshine Stars, Crown FC, and Gateway FC in Southern Conference A. Having suffered heartbreak in Enugu two seasons ago when promotion slipped away, they return more experienced and determined to go all the way.
On Matchday One, 4 May, Sporting Lagos face Ranchers Bees in the opening fixture, with flair expected to collide with resilience. Later in the day, Doma United take on Inter Lagos in what promises to be the more tactically nuanced contest, pitting structured experience against fearless pressure-play.
Although all four clubs have already secured promotion, only one will be crowned Super Four champions — a title that carries both prestige and psychological capital heading into the NPFL.
