Norrenberger Financial Group has opened its Lagos office, signalling ‘‘a strategic commitment to deepen its footprint to tap into the city’s vast financial ecosystem.

Group Managing Director, Tony Edeh, said the move was more than unveiling of a workspace but a decisive statement about the company’s growth ambitions and confidence in Nigeria’s economic trajectory.

“Today is a defining moment in the journey of Norrenberger, the opening of our Lagos office. It is not just unveiling of a workplace. It is a strategic move, a statement of confidence and a reaffirmation of our commitment to Nigeria’s economic future,” he said.

Edeh noted that the decision to establish a presence in Lagos followed questions about the rationale behind the expansion. According to him, the answer was straightforward.

“Lagos is not just a city, it is Nigeria’s commercial landscape and one of Africa’s most dynamic economic powerhouses,” he said, adding with a GDP of about $259 billion, Lagos stands as “the largest subnational economy in Africa,” accounting for a significant share of Nigeria’s output.

He described Lagos as the nerve centre of finance, commerce, innovation and enterprise, where capital is deployed, businesses scale and innovation thrives in a competitive environment. “Lagos was not an option. Lagos is essential. Lagos represents scale of enterprise,” he stressed.

The financial services group, which focuses on wealth creation, asset management, capital development and value creation, said being in Lagos places it closer to corporates, institutional investors, regulators and high networth clients.

“Being here places us at the heart of Africa’s vibrant financial sector, a place where markets move, innovation thrives and capital flows’’, he said.

He noted the need for deliberate capital allocation in pursuit of Nigeria’s long term growth ambitions. “We believe capital flows must be intentional. We believe we have to create a system that articulates the flow of capital in the economy toward the one trillion dollar economic target. Capital should be structured wisely, deployed purposefully and managed with discipline,” he said.

Edeh also aligned the company’s expansion with the vision of the Lagos International Financial Centre, describing it as “a visionary idea that seeks to attract investment and strengthen the public financial system for future competitiveness and growth.”

He expressed optimism that in the next five years, the group would have built “an institution that stands the test of time, an institution founded on trust, character, humility, friendliness and innovation,” with the capacity to endure for generations.

Earlier, the Group Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu Bala, said the Lagos office opening marked a deliberate step in the company’s growth journey and a clear commitment to serve the market.

“Our vision is to be a leading African financial services group, simplifying wealth creation and driving sustainable prosperity,” Bala said, noting that the firm remains focused on delivering solutions across investment, insurance, infrastructure and lending.

He added that the expansion was aimed at deepening the company’s contribution to economic progress and expanding access to structured financial services that would nurture inclusive growth.

Representing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the event, the Lagos State Commissioner of Finance, Abayomi Oluyomi, congratulated the company on its expansion, describing Lagos as a city defined by enterprise and opportunity.

“By selecting Lagos for this growth, you have shown clearly that this is a place of ideas, a place where every day millions wake up to dream, to build something, a business, a career, a better life,” he said.

Oluyomi noted that Norrenberger’s activities in structured investment and wealth management services align with the state government’s conviction that financial services must be inclusive and anchored on long term value creation.

“By situating this office in Lagos, you are reinforcing the state’s position as Nigeria’s financial hub, attracting partnerships and capital,” he said, assuring the company of continued government support.

He reiterated the state’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure and policy reforms to create a conducive environment for businesses, adding that the Lagos International Financial Centre initiative remains a priority in positioning the state competitively on the global stage.

With the formal declaration of the office open, Norrenberger joins the growing list of financial institutions consolidating their presence in Lagos, underscoring the city’s central role in shaping Nigeria’s financial future.
