The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) condemned repeated attacks on rail assets along the Abuja-Kaduna corridor, raising fresh concern over passenger safety and the protection of critical infrastructure.
The corporation said the latest incident occurred around Kilometre 177, where suspected vandals gathered along the track and threw stones at a moving train, damaging the windscreen of the leading locomotive.
The NRC noted that the attack was part of a disturbing pattern, with similar incidents recorded over the past two weeks in Gidan Busa and Sarki Gora Village in Kakau District, Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, among other locations.

Management disclosed that more than six incidents had been recorded along the corridor, worsening operational challenges and increasing risks to passengers and railway personnel.
It described the attacks as acts of economic sabotage that could disrupt transportation services and undermine government investment in the rail sector.
Despite the situation, the corporation said train services had continued with strengthened safety measures and heightened vigilance by railway workers to ensure safe travel for passengers.
The NRC acknowledged the support of security agencies working with the corporation to secure railway corridors and safeguard railway assets.
It added that it was collaborating with security operatives, community leaders and other stakeholders to enhance surveillance, identify those responsible and ensure they were brought to justice.
