The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has hosted Nigeria’s first-ever Rotary fellowship on a moving train, providing an unconventional platform for the Rotary Club of Ota to advance its service and community development agenda.

The historic session took place aboard one of the corporation’s passenger trains, where members of the Rotary Club of Ota held their fellowship while in transit. The engagement, led by the club’s President, Charles Umukoro, brought together top officers and members who described the moving setting as a symbol of progress and innovation in civic responsibility.

In attendance were Vice President Bisi Seleso, Pioneer President Olumide Adebiyi, Treasurer Olumide Omotola, President Elect Fatai Wasi, and the club’s oldest serving member, Dr Kele Abolaji.

Part of the highlight of the trip was the moment the Railway District Manager, Rasheed Adedeji, joined the Rotarians on board to formally welcome them to the moving-train fellowship.

He applauded the initiative for projecting the railway as a safe and strategic national asset and used the opportunity to encourage more civic groups to explore partnerships that showcase the modern face of rail travel.

Adedeji was inducted as a member of the Rotary Club of Ota, a gesture that both sides described as a reinforcement of shared values in public service and community development.

The fellowship also marked the start of the club’s large tree planting initiative, launched yesterday to support environmental protection and climate change mitigation efforts across host communities.
