NWFL:  Bayelsa Queens  reclaim Group A summit  as Nasarawa Amazons surge to second

Reigning champions Bayelsa Queens climbed back to the top of Group A after a 3-0 win over Ibom Angels in Yenagoa on Matchday 14 of the NWFL Premiership.

Chiamaka Ezekwugo (47’), Kindness Ifeanyi (49’)  her sixth goal of the season and Chidi Harmony (77’) secured the victory, taking Bayelsa Queens to 30 points, level with Rivers Angels but ahead on goal difference.

Rivers Angels also recorded a 3-0 win over Adamawa Queens in Port Harcourt, with Taiwo Ajibade scoring twice (23’, 35’) and Grace Saliu adding the third (56’). They sit second with 30 points.

Ibom Angels and Adamawa Queens remain fourth and fifth respectively with 17 points each.

Heartland Queens were held to a 1-1 draw by Pacesetters Queens in Owerri. Faith Samson gave Heartland the lead in the 31st minute before Temitayo Aduamomi equalised in the 37th minute following a goalkeeping error. Heartland stay sixth with 15 points, while Pacesetters are eighth with six points.

Ekiti Queens secured a 2-1 away win over Naija Ratels in Abuja. Paulina Orshio opened scoring for Ratels (37’), but Patience Yaro (67’) and Ismail Zaniab (74’) turned the game around.

Ekiti are seventh with 13 points, while Ratels remain bottom with five points after their 10th loss in 13 matches.

In Group B, the race for Super Six qualification intensified.

Nasarawa Amazons returned to second place with a late 1-0 win over Remo Stars Ladies in Lafia, thanks to Jumoke Alani’s 88th -minute penalty. They now have 26 points, while Remo Stars remain fourth with 23 points.

FC Robo Queens retained top spot with 29 points after a 1-1 draw against Ahudiyannem Queens in Aba.

Uduakobong Monday Peter gave the hosts the lead (9’), but Oluwakemi Adegbuyi equalised in the 65th minute for her seventh goal of the season.

Ahudiyannem Queens are fifth with 16 points.

Dannaz Ladies defeated Delta Queens 5-3 in Lagos in the highest-scoring game of the round. Goals from an own goal by Favour Damaris (6’), Zainab Raji (10’), and a brace from Ulumma Korie (38’, 59’), plus Solaty Fatimoh (83’) secured victory. Delta Queens responded through Destiny Itobore (35’) and Oghenebrume Ikekhua (52’, 71’). Dannaz move to seventh with 16 points, same as sixth-placed Delta Queens.

Sunshine Queens edged Abia Angels 1-0 in Akure, with Aishat Adebowale scoring in the 9th minute. Sunshine move to eighth with 15 points, while Abia Angels drop to third with 24 points.

Osun Babes defeated Confluence Queens 1-0 in Ile-Ogbo, courtesy of Precious Paul’s 26th-minute strike. Despite the win, Osun Babes remain bottom with 12 points, while Confluence Queens are ninth with 14 points.
