A chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s  (NNPP), Buba Galadima, on Saturday disclosed that presidential hopeful, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwoso, will announce a new political party to pursue their ambition on Monday following the crisis in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Galadima made this known during the Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement Unity Summit in Abuja on Saturday.

Though he did not state the party, there are feelers it might be the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

"As from Monday when our leaders declare on which platform they will run I want to tell you that one of two things will happen. And I here to guide you of your response to what will happen. First they will sponsor columnists who they will deploy social media influencer to start attacking our candidates.

"For all of you in the social media and are in the media you must be prepared to respond to anything they are going to say. Respond to anything they will say against our leader who we know are people of integrity and honour. We must respond to them with the ferociousness that is needed of an intelligent man.

"We must be prepared to be in the trenches to safeguard our freedom. Let no one receive you that it is going to be an easy task and that during elections go to the collation centres if you are voting. Either we they do what is right or we all die there so there would be no beneficiary," he said.

He stressed that only Nigerians can solve the problems facing the country.

"Nobody would drop from the moon and solve these problems for us. We Nigerians would be the ones that would stand up and solve these problems. We are the only ones that can solve our problems," he said.

He urged participants to be resolute in their aim of voting our the present administration in the country.

"I presume that you are gathered here with a covenant to the Nigerian people in your resolution. I expect you to say come rain come shine we must democratically through the ballot box remove this government," he said.

Galadima alleged that opposition leaders have faced sustained repression and systematic weakening of opposition party platforms orchestrated by the present administration.

He said that the situation could escalate further, alleging that desperate political actors might resort to extreme measures like going after opposition figures.

Also speaking at the event, Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, expressed support for the movement.

He said it was a viable alternative.

"This is the time to get the country back. There's no going back. I'm not a politician. I don't intend join any political party. But OK is ok for me....You have to be strong. This is the time to vote out present administration. The time is now," he said.

Activist Aisha Yesufu called for unity, urging Nigerians to prioritise national cohesion over division.

She said Nigerians deserve a country that works for everyone, where there is peace and justice.

She said, “It is time for us to become a nation that is working. The next time they say to you that this is an Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba person, tell them indeed, we are all Nigerians.

"Today, I will say to you all that the education and voices we have are not for us alone. They are for millions of others who didn't have the opportunities that we have. If not, at the end of the day, we will be asked questions."

The Director General of the Movement, John Ughulu, said the movement was out to drive the success of Obi and Kwankwoso in next year's election.

"We are here because we have to win next year. There comes a time people decide and say it's OK. Every country that is developed go through what we are going through. We are sure everything would be OK in Nigeria. That is why we are here. We believe in good governance. We will not be suppressed or intimidated," he said.
