Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has reiterated the ban on the illegal collection of levies known as “Deve” in Delta State, warning that violators will face strict consequences.

The governor issued the warning yesterday during an inspection of the Warri Stadium project, stressing that his administration would not tolerate any activity capable of disrupting government, corporate, or private developments.

His remarks come amid the recent arraignment of two suspects accused of engaging in the development levy collection.

Oborevwori described all unauthorised charges on developers and contractors as “dead on arrival,” noting that such practices hinder infrastructure development and discourage investment in the state.

He commended the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Weyinmi Agbatayeniro, for sustaining peace and supporting ongoing development efforts.

Oborevwori added that collaboration between state and local authorities remained critical to project execution.

The governor also highlighted his administration’s focus on job creation through infrastructure, stating that ongoing projects are engaging local labour and boosting economic activities across communities.

He further disclosed the introduction of a special allowance for medical doctors to improve healthcare delivery and incentivize health workers in the state.

Oborevwori maintained that most jobs linked to government projects are being handled by local workers, dismissing claims of foreign dominance.

He assured residents of continued commitment to policies that promote economic growth, peace, and sustainable development.
