Ogun State Branch of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the administration of Dapo Abiodun, demanding the immediate payment of outstanding promotion benefits and the restoration of a 10 per cent cut in judiciary workers’ allowances.
The union expressed disappointment over the state government’s failure to implement salary adjustments for judiciary staff promoted since January 2025.
The demands were contained in a letter dated April 8, 2026, signed by the State Chairman, Comrade Ajiboye Tunji, assistant secretary, Comrade Adeyemo Adekanbi, and addressed to Governor Dapo Abiodun through the Head of Service.

JUSUN warned that failure to meet its demands within 21 days, effective from April 8 2026, would result in the withdrawal of services by judiciary workers across the state beginning April 29, 2026.
Copies of the letter, it was learnt have been sent to other stakeholders, including the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, the Chief Registrars of the High Court and Customary Court of Appeal, as well as the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Nigerian Bar Association in various branches across the state.
The union lamented that despite receiving promotion letters and assuming new roles, the affected workers are yet to enjoy financial benefits of their elevation.
“This is not only unacceptable and unconstitutional but also a clear disregard for the rights of judiciary workers,” the union stated.

JUSUN also faulted what it described as the continued control of judiciary workers’ salaries and allowances by the state government.
It argued that such practice violates constitutional provisions guaranteeing financial autonomy for the judiciary.
Referencing sections of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), including Sections 81, 84 and 121, the union stressed that funds meant for the judiciary should be released directly to the office of the Chief Judge to ensure independence and efficiency in the justice system.
