Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested 146 suspects during a large-scale, intelligence-led security operation conducted across Sagamu and adjoining communities.

The coordinated raid, code-named Operation Keep Sagamu Safe, was carried out in the early hours of April 13, 2026, following consultations with traditional rulers, local government authorities, and security chiefs to strengthen crime prevention in the area.

In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the operation targeted identified flashpoints where criminal elements were suspected to be regrouping and posing threats to public safety.

He explained that the exercise was designed to pre-empt any breakdown of law and order while reinforcing public confidence in ongoing security efforts.

The operation involved a joint deployment of multiple security agencies, including the police, military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun Corps, Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, reflecting what officials described as a coordinated and proactive security response.

According to Babaseyi, all 146 suspects are currently undergoing screening to ascertain their involvement in alleged criminal activities. Those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation and possible prosecution.

He also quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, as commending the participating agencies for their professionalism and synergy during the operation.

The command reiterated its commitment to intelligence-driven policing and sustained efforts to maintain peace across Ogun State, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through designated emergency channels.
