Former Imo State Governor, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid, citing his "superlative performance" in his first term.

Ohakim expressed confidence that President Tinubu's achievements in socioeconomic, political, and infrastructural development make his re-election on January 16, 2027, a "foregone conclusion" and "non-negotiable".

"The opposition can attest to the achievements his administration has recorded so far in all spheres of our nation's development," Ohakim said, backing Tinubu's bid for a second term.

Dr.Ohakim stated this in a statement issued in Owerri and made available to The Nation.

He commended all the support groups canvassing for President Tinubu's re-election, particularly the City Boys Movement, which was in Owerri over the weekend to galvanise support for the President.

He described the City Boys Movement as an assemblage of distinguished young Nigerians in various fields of human enterprises, who are progressive-minded and who mean well for the future of the country.

He posited that the massive turnout of enthusiastic Imo people and other Nigerians, who trooped out to receive the leadership and members of the City Boys Movement, is a testament to its public acceptance and the people's love for President Tinubu.

"I commend the National leadership of the Movement led by Barr Seyi Tinubu and the Southeast Coordinator of the Movement, Chief Obinna Iyiegbu(Obi Cubana), as well as other members of the Movement for their vision, patriotism, and resilience in driving Mr. President's reelection agenda. It has our unalloyed support and blessings. Imo is APC, and APC is Imo. Mr. President and our governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, have our firm support," Ohakim stated.

The former governor further commended Governor Uzodimma, the Director General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, for spearheading President Tinubu's campaign in the country for 2027.

He said, "Governor Uzodimma's doggedness, charismatic and political savviness, Mr. President's reelection bid is firmly on the right track, Imo people will vote massively for President Tinubu, Imo is a fait accompli for the APC come 2027 general elections."

Dr. Ohakim advised Nigerians to sustain their optimism in President Tinubu's leadership, pointing out that "but for Mr. President's wisdom and leadership acumen, Nigeria would have been in a terrible state today, considering the parlous condition she was in when Mr. President came in."

Reminding Nigerians that Rome was not built in a day, Ohakim called for patience and support for the President, assuring that "already things are getting better and the future is bright for our country and her people."
