…insists unity crucial to Anioma state dream
Former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has taken his political consultations to Oshimili South, meeting leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and delivering a blunt message: unity is non-negotiable for Anioma’s future.
Speaking to party stakeholders, Okowa urged leaders to rise above political divides, warning that disunity could stall the region’s political rise.
He insisted that only a shared vision and coordinated leadership could secure lasting development for Anioma land.
“The strength of Anioma lies in its unity,” he said, stressing inclusiveness, respect for leadership, and stronger ties between political actors and the grassroots.
He pointed to the strong turnout as evidence of growing alignment, noting that continued collaboration would deepen Anioma’s political influence. But he cautioned that internal cracks could quickly undo years of progress.
On the proposed Anioma State, Okowa pushed back against what he described as “misinformation,” clarifying that the people support its creation—on their terms.
He outlined a firm position: a state made up of the nine Delta North local government areas, remaining in the South-South zone, with Asaba as capital.
He was unequivocal on Asaba’s status, declaring that any attempt to alter its standing as Delta State capital “unacceptable.”

Lawmaker, Hon. Bridget Anyfulu led a motion that backing Okowa’s Senate bid, while also endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for a second term.
The motion was seconded by a commissioner, Dr. Darlington Ijeh.
Oshimili South Council Chairman, Hon. Kelvin Obi Ezenyili, capped the meeting with a clear message: the stakeholders are united and aligned.
