He asked permanent secretary of the Ministry of Works to take over, pending the deployment of a new commissioner to the ministry.

A statement by Secretary to Edo State Government, Musa Ikhilor, said the directive was with immediate effect.

Governor Okpebholo has promised a grant of N2billion to the management of Edo State University, Iyahmo, for infrastructural development.

He praised the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victor Adetimirin, for his sacrifice and commitment to advancing the institution.

He also increased the institution’s monthly subvention from N100million to N250million.

The governor made the promise when he inaugurated Ehi Aganmonmen Business Administration E-Library and performed the groundbreaking ceremony for Peter Omoh Dunia Fitness Centre built at Edo State University, Iyamho.

He said his administration had resolved to reposition the education sector.

Said he: “Today is a great day for Edo State University, Iyamho. Since assuming office, our administration has remained committed to repositioning the education sector in Edo State. These projects are symbols of progress, partnership, and shared responsibility in advancing education and health in Edo State.

“These acts of generosity remind us that government alone cannot do everything. We call on other corporate organisations and well-meaning individuals to emulate these noble gestures and partner the government in building a stronger Edo State.”

The governor also announced donation of two Toyota Hiace buses and two CNG buses to the university.
