The Governing Council of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASFUED), Ijebu Ode, has appointed Prof. Samuel Oladipo as the new Vice Chancellor of the institution.

This is contained in a statement yesterday by the institution’s registrar , Oladapo Oke.

Oladipo is the third indigenous and sixth substantive vice chancellor of the university.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Rahamon Bello, announced the appointment after the council meeting held on Tuesday.

Bello described Oladipo’s emergence as a product of merit, dedication and commitment to the university’s founding ideals.

According to the statement, the appointment takes effect from May 5.

Oladipo, a Professor of Social Psychology and a foundation staff member of TASUED, joined the institution in 1999 when it was Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE).

He became a professor in October 2014.

Before his appointment, Oladipo served in several capacities, including Chairman of the University Result Vetting Board and Pioneer Director of the Directorate of Research and External Relations.

He also served as Pioneer Dean, College of Specialised and Professional Education, Deputy Director, Directorate of Academic Planning, Quality Assurance and Research, and Sub-Dean, College of Applied Education and Vocational Technology.

The new vice chancellor had a sabbatical appointment at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at North-West University, Mafikeng, South Africa, between 2013 and 2015.

He is a recipient of the National Research Fund.

Oladipo has published over 70 articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored and edited several academic and non-academic books.

His research interests include spirituality and health, help-seeking behaviour, gender-based violence, child abuse and psychological scale development.

He is a member of several professional bodies, including the American Psychological Association and the Psychological Association of Nigeria.

Oladipo was born on June 29, 1969, in Akinmoorin, Oyo State.
