Ibrahim Olayiwola and Kingsley Friday delivered the standout performances of the month at the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame (LBHF) tournament, both securing referee stoppages in their respective bouts at Agege Stadium over the weekend.
The one-day event featured eight competitive bouts and two exhibition matches. However, it was the clinical finishes by Olayiwola and Friday that dominated the headlines.

In the men’s 60kg category, Olayiwola’s relentless pace forced the referee to intervene in his match against Ajisola Habeeb. Friday mirrored this dominance in the 75kg division, overwhelming Lekan Kolawole to bring an early end to the contest.
A jubilant Olayiwola attributed his clinical victory to a rigorous training camp and a strong support system:
"I thank God for this win and my fans for their unwavering support. I also want to thank my coaches—Segun Body of the Lagos State Boxing Association, Waliu Arogundade from Ogun State, and Sulaiman Olagbade. The LBHF provides a vital platform for us to showcase our talent, and my ultimate goal is to transition into the professional ranks."
The women’s division provided equally compelling action. In the 48kg category, Nura Sulaimon secured a clean sweep with a 5–0 victory over Mariam Tijani. Meanwhile, Oyindamiola Agboola edged out Sofiat Yakub in a 4–1 split decision to claim the 51kg crown.
Founded in 2010 by the current Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, the LBHF stands as Nigeria’s longest-running amateur boxing series. Supported by the Lagos State Amateur Boxing Association, the non-profit has been a finishing school for elite talent, including WBF Intercontinental champion Taiwo “Esepo” Agbaje.
LBHF Director David Mohamed lauded the athletes for their discipline and technical growth, expressing confidence that the monthly series will continue to produce world-class contenders for the international stage.
