The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has dismissed viral reports alleging that he is plotting to remove Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde from office.

In a statement issued through his media aide, Mr. Adeola Oloko, the monarch described the claim as false and misleading.

He noted that constitutional realities make such allegations untenable, stressing that a traditional ruler lacks the authority to impeach even a local government chairman, let alone a sitting governor.

“You don’t have to be a former governor or a distinguished senator to know that a monarch has no power to impeach a local government chairman, let alone a state governor,” he said.

The Olubadan also pointed to what he described as contradictions in recent political narratives, noting that less than 24 hours earlier, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose had alleged a plot by Governor Makinde to remove the Olubadan.

“Now, it is the Olubadan who is allegedly planning to impeach the governor. So, who is fooling whom?” the statement added.
