The Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, alongside the immediate past Vice Chancellor of Chrisland University, Prof. Chinedum Babalola; Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Barrister Abiodun Olatunji; and the Director of Oyiza Orphanage and Foster Foundation, Mrs. Joy Taiwo, have called for increased support for orphanage homes across the country.
The stakeholders maintained that sustained support for orphanages would promote social equity and help reduce criminality by providing vulnerable children with access to care, education, and opportunities.
They spoke in Ibadan during the commissioning of the permanent site of Oyiza Orphanage and Foster Foundation.
Oba Ladoja emphasised that the protection and welfare of children remain a collective responsibility of society. He commended the foundation for what he described as a noble initiative, noting that its commitment and sacrifices reflect exemplary leadership.

In his remarks, Barrister Olatunji, who serves as Patron of the foundation, urged Nigerians to cultivate a culture of giving back to society, regardless of the scale of their contributions.
He observed that many orphanage homes struggle to meet basic needs and stressed that investing in vulnerable children would contribute significantly to crime reduction and long-term national development.
"An idle mind is easily bent to crime. Invest in the vulnerable in society, support them, and encourage them."
In her keynote address, titled "Beyond Charity: Building Sustainable Hope Through Humanitarian Service", the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Chrisland University, Prof. Chinedum Babalola sought an endowment fund for the orphanage home to continue impacting society.
She lauded the Home for the great initiative, saying the home has created equality for the children to thrive, and some of them are now graduates contributing to the development of society.
She, however, described the orphanage home as a vision builder and role model, adding that humanitarian service is more than charity, but a joint task.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion in the state, Mrs. Toyin Balogun, stated that through adequate collaboration and partnership with the private sector, a brighter future for the unborn generation is guaranteed.

According to her, the foundation, over the years, has become a beacon of hope, restoring dignity and providing lasting support to children, widows, and vulnerable families
She, however, said the work of the foundation is guided by compassion, accountability, and the belief that every child deserves love, care, and the opportunity to reach their full potential.
