The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has joined 16 other chairmen of State Councils of Obas at the Southern State Traditional Rulers Council roundtable in Port Harcourt.
The meeting, chaired by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, was declared open by Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
In his remarks, Governor Fubara commended the resolve of traditional rulers from the South-West, South-South, and South-East to unite despite cultural, religious, and ideological differences.

He noted that the council’s focus on promoting unity, peace, security, cohesion, and development across Southern Nigeria aligns with broader national interests.

The governor also urged collective efforts towards sustaining national progress, including support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that continuity remains key to development.
He expressed appreciation for the calibre of participants at the meeting, which included former governors, senators, business leaders, and religious figures.
In his welcome address, the Ooni of Ife reiterated the objectives behind the formation of the Southern Traditional Rulers Council, acknowledging Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma for hosting the maiden edition, followed by subsequent meetings in Ogun and Lagos states.
He also commended Governor Fubara and the people of Rivers State for hosting the current roundtable, noting that the council draws strength from the diverse experiences of its members, including the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
