Former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has formally declared his intention to contest the Delta Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued Wednesday, Omo-Agege said his decision followed “broad consultations” across the eight local government areas of Delta Central and was in response to “overwhelming calls” from constituents urging his return to the Senate.
Omo-Agege, who represented Delta Central from 2015 to 2023, described his tenure as impactful, citing projects facilitated under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
He listed achievements, including the establishment of a federal polytechnic, a defense space school, and an oil and gas industrial park.
“This is not a light decision. It is borne out of consultations with stakeholders and a response to the humbling calls by our electorate… that I return to the Senate to serve our common good.
“I am answering the overwhelming calls to return to the Senate because Delta Central cannot afford silence. It is time to improve… the Urhobo Nation’s Senate seat must not be silent,” he said.
He pledged to prioritize infrastructure, job creation, and legislative effectiveness if elected, promising to “move bills from sponsorship to assent” and to attract federal projects to the district.

Omo-Agege also reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda, describing ongoing economic reforms as “tough but essential.”
“Continuity means completing projects, providing stability for investors, and maintaining fiscal discipline. That is why supporting President Tinubu in 2027 is non-negotiable,” he stated.
Calling for unity within the APC, he added, “We must approach 2027 as one family. This is a contest of ideas and record, not a battle.”
He further urged voters to renew his mandate, saying: “I declare my candidacy with humility, experience, and a clear plan to secure our voice and our future.”
