Rahman Ahmed of Ondo State has declared his determination to win gold at the 2nd Niger Delta Games after booking a place in the men’s tennis final.
The 18-year-old secured his spot with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory over Wisdom Chibueze of Abia State. He will now face Wisdom Effiong of Akwa Ibom, who defeated Chinedu Obinna of Abia 6-2, 7-5 in the second semi-final.

Ahmed described reaching the final as a personal milestone, revealing it is his first-ever appearance in a championship match since he began playing tennis. He credited his success to intense preparation and confidence, stating that he intends to carry his semi-final momentum into the final.
While appreciating the organisers for creating a platform to showcase young talents, he appealed for more tournaments to aid player development.
He also encouraged fellow athletes to remain focused and persistent, stressing that dedication is key to reaching the top.
