Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested 146 suspects in a sweeping, intelligence-led security operation carried out across Sagamu and surrounding communities.

The coordinated raid, code-named Operation Keep Sagamu Safe, was executed in the early hours of April 13, 2026, following a series of engagements with traditional rulers, local government authorities, and security chiefs aimed at strengthening crime prevention strategies in the area.

A statement by spokesperson of the state Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the operation targeted identified flashpoints where criminals were believed to be regrouping and posing threats to public safety.

Babaseyi stated that the move was designed to forestall any potential breakdown of law and order while reinforcing public confidence in security efforts.

The exercise saw a joint deployment of multiple security agencies, including the police, military personnel, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and Vigilante Group of Nigeria in what officials described as a “unified and proactive security response framework.”

According to him, the suspects are undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in alleged criminal activities. Those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Babaseyi quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, as commending the participating agencies for their professionalism, synergy, and discipline throughout the operation.

He reassured residents of the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and sustained efforts to maintain peace and security across Ogun.

Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through designated emergency lines, as authorities intensify efforts to keep communities safe.
