The founder of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, disclosed that his church runs a free rehabilitation programme for repentant kidnappers, armed robbers, and cultists, as part of efforts to tackle crime in the country.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Chinyere said the initiative, which has operated for more than 15 years, is funded entirely by tithes and offerings from church members, with no external or government support.

According to the cleric, individuals are rescued from criminal camps, disarmed, and enrolled in a structured rehabilitation process that combines spiritual transformation and vocational training.

"Repented kidnappers, Repented armed robbers, and repented cultists OPM free rehabilitation centre. When I rescue them from camp, they surrender their guns, which I hand over to the police. They undergo spiritual and physical rehabilitation. They get water baptized. They are taken to police headquarters for documentation," he wrote.

Chinyere also claimed the programme has helped reduce crime by transforming “misled youths” into productive members of society.

"They are taught different skills in the OPM free school of skills like furniture making, welding, Electrical and electronics training, Scaffolding training, tailoring training, ICT training, oil and gas training ETC," he added.

He noted that police officers have visited the rehabilitation centre on several occasions to inspect operations and receive surrendered weapons.

"By the grace of GOD, for more than 15 years, God has used OPM to support the police in reducing crime. Many of these misled youths are no longer into crime but are now doing legal things. FULLY funded through tithes and offerings from OPM church," he concluded.

The announcement comes amid growing public attention on Chinyere’s philanthropic activities.

On March 29, he facilitated the marriage of his adopted non-verbal autistic son, popularly known as Aboy Chibuzor, to an older woman.

He has now announced plans to arrange the marriage of another adopted daughter, 21-year-old Chiemeka Chibuzor, who has autism but is verbal.

Chinyere’s broader initiatives include free schools, free hospitals, and scholarship programmes, all reportedly sustained through church funds.

While supporters praise the rehabilitation effort as a practical, faith-based intervention in a region long troubled by militancy and cult-related violence, the programme has previously drawn questions about verification processes, oversight, and long-term success rates.
