All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda yesterday took a swipe at leading opposition leaders, who, rather than position their parties as alternative political platforms, blame their rejection

All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda yesterday took a swipe at leading opposition leaders, who, rather than position their parties as alternative political platforms, blame their rejection by Nigerians on the ruling party.
Yilwatda taunted the opposition parties of abandoning promoting their manifestoes to blaming the governing party for their misfortune.
He spoke at the party’s Abuja headquarters during the presentation of certificates of return to elected members of the National Working Committee (NWC).
They were elected during the March 28, Convention.

Yilwatda said: “It is interesting to note that the opposition no longer promote their manifestos. They are now quick to blame their problems on APC. If they can’t get their candidate right or get anything right, they are quick to blame it on APC. We have become their manifesto, campaign slogan.”
After receiving his certificate, promised a new era of internal democracy, stability and aggressive membership mobilisation.
He lauded the smooth conduct of the recent national convention, noting that it set a new benchmark for political gatherings in the country.
He also praised the Aminu Bello Masari-led NCCCC for delivering “a transparent and seamless process devoid of friction.”
Convention Chairman Aminu Bellow Masari wished the new leaders of the party God’s wisdom to be able to pilot the affairs of the party, especially as it prepares for primaries to elect party flag bearers in all elective offices in the country.

“Normally, parties, especially the National Working Committee, will be under intense pressure during primaries. I hope we will be able to resist temptation and do what is right for the benefit of our party and our country.”
Expressing confidence in the Yilwatda-led NWC, Masari said: “With the commitment of the chairman and members of the NWC, we expect to see a renewed, motivated National Working Committee that will do even better than before.
