Veteran Turkish commentator Erman Toroğlu has sparked a heated debate after comparing Nigeria’s premier strikers, Paul Onuachu and Victor Osimhen, following a high-octane weekend in the Trendyol Süper Lig.
With the title race reaching a fever pitch, both Super Eagles stars found the net, but it was their contrasting styles that dominated post-match analysis.
Onuachu was the catalyst for Trabzonspor’s 3-0 demolition of Samsunspor. The towering forward showcased his dominance with a brilliant brace, taking his season tally to 15 league goals.
Onuachu currently leads the Süper Lig scoring charts despite his mid-season absence for AFCON. Beyond his two goals, the giant striker saw two additional efforts—one for a foul and one for offside—ruled out, narrowly missing a historic four-goal haul. With his latest brace, Onuachu became the first foreign player in Trabzonspor’s history to score in both league fixtures against Samsunspor in a single season.
Not to be outdone, Osimhen powered Galatasaray to a 3-0 away win over Çaykur Rizespor. His 73rd -minute strike was more than just a goal; it was a piece of club history.
Osimhen has now reached 52 goals for Galatasaray, surpassing Bafétimbi Gomis (51) to become the fourth-highest scoring foreign player in the club’s history. He now trails only Mauro Icardi (73), Gheorghe Hagi (72), and Milan Baros (61).
The former Napoli man has scored in five consecutive appearances, equalling his personal best streak for the Istanbul giants.

Despite Osimhen’s status as the league’s most expensive signing, the 77-year-old Toroğlu offered a surprising take on the two compatriots. Speaking to 61Saat, the former FIFA referee highlighted three areas where he believes Onuachu holds the upper hand:
"Onuachu’s shooting technique is better than Osimhen’s. His through balls are better than Osimhen’s. His body feints are also better," Toroğlu remarked. "Osimhen is faster in terms of speed, but despite his height, Onuachu’s mobility is truly incredible."
While Osimhen finished last season as the league's top scorer with 26 goals, the current form suggests a tightening race for the Golden Boot.
The battle continues this weekend as Galatasaray faces Eyüpspor on Friday, while Trabzonspor gears up for a massive heavyweight clash against Fenerbahce on Saturday.
