Osun 2026: Adeleke urges NYSC members to remain neutral ahead of governorship poll
Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday called on members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to maintain neutrality and uphold non-partisan conduct in the discharge of their electoral responsibilities ahead

Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday called on members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to maintain neutrality and uphold non-partisan conduct in the discharge of their electoral responsibilities ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
The governor made the appeal while addressing about 3,000 newly deployed corps members during the swearing-in and official opening of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation programme. He stressed the need for strict adherence to the rules guiding national service.
Adeleke reminded the corps members of the significance of the forthcoming election, urging them to remain law-abiding and professional throughout the period.
“As you may be aware, Osun State will be approaching a significant democratic exercise with the forthcoming gubernatorial election scheduled for August. While this period is important in our democratic journey, I urge you all to remain law-abiding, neutral, and committed to the rules guiding your service,” he said.
He added that the NYSC scheme is a non-partisan institution, noting that corps members must conduct themselves with discipline, responsibility, and respect for constituted authority.
The governor also assured them of adequate security, pledging collaboration with security agencies to ensure a safe and conducive environment during their stay in the state.
Earlier, the Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, disclosed that 2,600 corps members had been deployed to the state.
He noted that some of them could be engaged as ad hoc personnel during the election, urging them to carry out such duties with professionalism and neutrality.
“You may be called upon to serve as ad hoc personnel in the electoral process. While this is a noble national assignment, you are expected to remain neutral, professional, and law-abiding at all times,” he said.
Kubiangha warned against involvement in partisan politics or any activity that could undermine the integrity of the electoral process or compromise their safety. He also encouraged the corps members to take advantage of the orientation course to acquire entrepreneurial skills.
