…Oyebamiji will restore sanity to Osun governance—Senator Fadahunsi

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday inaugurated its 2026 governorship campaign team, with a member of the House of Representatives for Obokun/Ori-Ade Federal Constituency, Hon. Oluwole Oke, named as chairman.

At the inauguration held at the Tinubu/Shettima campaign office in Osogbo, Oke charged members of the committee to run an issue-based, people-focused, coordinated, and result-driven campaign aimed at securing victory for the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

He urged the team to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state.

“We must organise, mobilise, and communicate our message effectively across every ward, polling unit, and community in Osun State. We are not just running a campaign; we are building a movement for the restoration of good governance in Osun State,” he said.

Oke criticised the incumbent administration, alleging poor performance in governance and service delivery.

“The days of this government are numbered. The administration has failed the people of Osun State on all fronts. There has been incompetence and a lack of fairness to the people,” he said.

He further alleged mismanagement of state resources, claiming that key sectors such as education had suffered neglect.

“The resources that have accrued to the state in the last three and a half years have been misused. We lack adequate school infrastructure and teachers, and public schools are no longer attractive to our children,” he added.

The campaign director-general assured that the APC would prioritise good governance and citizens’ welfare, with a focus on poverty reduction if elected.

Also speaking, the senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, expressed confidence that the party would unseat the incumbent governor in the next election.

“We will ensure the governor does not return. AMBO will deliver accountable governance and restore sanity to the mining sector, thereby increasing revenue for the state,” he said.

Fadahunsi decried the prevalence of illegal mining, alleging that it had led to significant revenue losses and environmental degradation across parts of the state.

“It is unfortunate that our vast resources are being lost to illegal mining. The situation in areas such as Obokun, Oriade, Atakunmosa West, and Atakunmosa East has exposed communities to environmental risks,” he said.

He also raised concerns over inadequate healthcare infrastructure in the affected areas, noting that residents lack access to properly equipped hospitals.
