In a move aimed at fostering cohesion within the party ahead of the August 8 gubernatorial election in Osun, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders’ Caucus held a meeting on Monday with former Deputy Governor Iyiola Omisore at his Ile-Ife residence.
Omisore, who previously served as the national secretary of the APC, was among the aspirants disqualified ahead of the party’s primary, which saw Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, emerge as the APC flagbearer. Some disqualified aspirants, including Omisore, had earlier voiced concerns over the primary process.

Confirming the meeting in a statement on his X handle, Omisore said discussions focused on enhancing unity, cohesion, and the sustained progress of the APC in the state.
“Today, I received the Osun APC Elders’ Caucus (Igbimo Agba) in my Ile-Ife home. Our discussions were centered on strengthening the unity, cohesion, and continued progress of our great party, the All Progressives Congress,” he stated.
Omisore expressed appreciation for the elders’ visit, noting the wealth of experience they bring to the party. “I sincerely appreciate their visit and the depth of experience they offer. I wish them good health always,” he added.
The meeting underscores ongoing efforts by party leaders to consolidate support and address internal grievances as the APC prepares for the upcoming governorship election.
