As the August 15 governorship election in Osun State is fast approaching, Osun West Director General for All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, has warned the people of the state, especially members of the party, to be wary of any form of inducement that could trap and lure them away from fulfilling their electoral obligations to APC.

Babayemi, who is known for his grassroots mobilisation drive, advised the party leadership to embark on massive campaigns across the state, to ensure the victory of the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

He spoke during a meeting of the umbrella body of his political group called  Ireti Osun Movement in Osogbo, which was attended by its stakeholders across the 332 wards.

“We are now at a critical phase and I will like to sound a note of caution: We should all be mindful of various deceitful overtures in form of inducements from opposing parties, particularly the ruling party in our state, Osun. Because they know that the game is up for them, they are now pretentiously moving around with Greek offers to deceive the people. Just be careful and never be trapped by them through any dubious gift,” he said.

The DG said such engagements were opportunistic and driven by self-interest, rather than genuine concern, urging that people’s commitment to work for the success of APC in the August governorship election and the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 should be paramount to all.

The Chairman of the Movement, Mr Gbenga Adebusuyi, stressed the need for party members to work together to achieve electoral success.

Other speakers at the meeting included a former commissioner in the state, Dr Bode Olaonipekun and Mr Emmanuel Monyeh, who equally harped on the importance of unity among members of APC in the state.
