…warns against alleged playing script by Accord Party

  • From Toba Adedeji, Osogbo

A socio-political group in Osun State has criticised the Action Peoples Party (APP) for instituting a court action against the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, over alleged discrepancies in his credentials submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The group, operating under the Omoluabi Ethos Monitoring Group (OEMG), described the move as baseless and politically motivated ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

OEMG also warned against what it termed a coordinated political agenda allegedly involving members of the Accord Party.

Speaking through its national coordinator, Olawanle Aderemi, the group alleged that some political actors in the state were using smaller parties to pursue ulterior objectives.

He urged the national leadership of the APP to monitor activities within its Osun chapter, claiming that local party officials were being used for purposes that undermine the party’s independence.

Aderemi faulted the APP for pursuing legal action instead of allowing INEC to handle issues relating to candidate eligibility, describing the move as unnecessary and indicative of political bias.

He added that the development reflects poorly on the party, urging it to focus on its own political agenda rather than engaging in actions that could be perceived as partisan alignment.
