The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2026 Osun election, Bola Oyebamiji, has criticised a lawsuit challenging his eligibility, describing it as frivolous and politically motivated.
Oyebamiji, through his Media Front coordinator, Adebayo Adedeji, accused the administration of Ademola Adeleke of deploying desperate tactics, insisting the legal action reflects fear of defeat ahead of the August 15 governorship poll.
The suit, filed at the Federal High Court, centres on alleged discrepancies in credentials submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Reacting on Sunday, Oyebamiji said the move signalled panic within the state government, arguing that the administration had chosen political distractions and litigation over governance.
He challenged Governor Adeleke to present his performance record, maintaining that the lawsuit lacks merit.
According to the statement, the case does not dispute his academic qualifications but focuses on the use of his Muslim name, Munirudeen, in an appointment letter as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority, which the plaintiffs claim differs from names on other credentials.
Oyebamiji dismissed the claim as baseless, describing the suit as a failed attempt to undermine his candidacy. He added that the development suggests the government is apprehensive about the outcome of the forthcoming election.

He said, “Across the state, independent surveys, opinion polls, and direct feedback from citizens consistently affirm that AMBO is the preferred choice---widely regarded as the candidate best positioned to deliver competent, transparent, and forward-looking governance. They have rejected Adeleke, citing his administration’s poor performance over the past three years.
“For instance, the state reportedly spent a mere N7 billion on agriculture and food security in three years, while an outrageous N92 billion was expended on sustaining the governor’s stomach infrastructure.”
He asserted, “Having realised that they have got no scorecard to campaign with, they are now desperate to reduce AMBO to their miserable level of ‘Oluwole and Penn Foster’ academic scandal which has defined Adeleke in the last 8 years.”
He recalled that the Nigerian Police had on October 31, 2019, arraigned Senator Ademola Adeleke on a four-count charge alongside Sikiru Adeleke, his brother, Aregbesola Mufutau, principal of the school, Gbadamosi Thomas Ojo, the registrar, and Dare Olutope, a teacher. This case is not the same as an alleged testimonial forgery at Èdè Muslim High School involving the same Senator Adeleke.
He urged the public to disregard the distractions against the APC gubernatorial candidate and remain focused on the issues that matter.”
