Federal and state assembly lawmakers on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for second term in 2027.

They also backed the 2026 re-election bid of Governor Ademola Adeleke contesting on the platform of Accord Party.

The legislatures in a communiqué at the end of their stakeholders’ meeting in Osogbo at the weekend, urged President Tinubu to intervene in the lingering council crisis rocking Osun State.

Reading the communiqué on behalf of the legislatures, Deputy Minority Leader, National Assembly, Senator Lere Oyewumi, hailed Governor Adeleke for the developmental strides recorded under his administration and commitment to workers’ welfare.

He said: “Having reviewed the performance of the governor in infrastructure development, workers’ welfare, health care, education and democratic stability, we unanimously endorse and give our total support to Governor Adeleke for second term, in the interest of continuity, stability and sustained progress for Osun State.”

The lawmakers equally passed vote of confidence in Sunday Bisi as the PDP state chairman, warning impostors parading themselves as excos of the party to desist.

They urged President Tinubu to give a directive to the ‘illegal occupants’ of councils in Osun State to vacate immediately, to avert crisis.

Responding to question from reporters, Senator Oyewumi said: “On the party’s endorsement of President Tinubu, nothing has changed. It is the party’s stance to back him in 2027 and also support Governor Adeleke in 2026.”

Among the lawmakers present are Bamidele Salam (Ede Federal Constituency), five other federal lawmakers, Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, Deputy Speaker, Akinyode Oyewusi and other members.
