An aide to the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Comrade Femi Awogboro, has reaffirmed that his principal is still in the race to secure his party’s governorship ticket and contest the 2027 election in Oyo State.

Awogboro dismissed speculation that the party’s leadership in the state had endorsed a candidate, insisting that no such decision had been taken.

Speaking in Ibadan during an interactive session with supporters, he said Adelabu’s ambition is backed by consultations with key stakeholders, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He expressed confidence in the party’s leadership at both state and national levels to conduct a transparent and credible primary process capable of producing a candidate with strong electoral prospects.

According to him, ongoing engagements within the party are geared toward ensuring equity, justice, and unity ahead of the elections.

Awogboro described Adelabu as a well-prepared aspirant, citing his experience in both public and private sectors, as well as his current role in driving reforms in the power sector.

He urged party members to remain calm, avoid divisive rhetoric, and intensify grassroots mobilisation in preparation for the 2027 polls.

“We must continue to work harmoniously for the progress of APC in Oyo State and support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda beyond 2027. Victory for APC starts with unity at the primary stage."

Awogboro also conveyed appreciation to the people of Oyo State for their overwhelming support for Adelabu.

“I deeply appreciate the good people of Oyo State for their support for Adebayo Adelabu. Their concern and commitment toward his emergence as the party’s candidate is truly enormous and cannot be overlooked. It clearly shows that Adelabu is their preferred choice for the Oyo governorship race. I assure you all that your Adelabu will never disappoint you. Ẹ ṣe púpo."
