Ahead of next year’s general election, some leaders of the Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday met in Lagos.
The meeting, which was convened by widow of a former governor of the state and Ambassador-designate to Austria, Mrs Florence Ajimobi was held at the late governor’s Ikoyi, Lagos home.

It was to fashion out a peace plan on how to pick the party’s governorship candidate.
The meeting had in attendance, the party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Senator Teslim Folarin; former deputy governor, Rauf Olaniyan, Senators representing Oyo North and South Districts, AbdulFatai Buhari and Sharafadeen Alli ; former Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ibadan branch, Akeem Agbaje; lawmaker representing Ido/Ibarapa East federal constituency Remi Oseni; Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu; party leader Fatai Ibikunle; party Chairman, Moses Adeyemo and a chieftain, Idris Adeoye.
Others are Oyo South senatorial aspirant, Kolapo Kola-Daisi; former lawmaker representing Afijio state constituency, Seyi Adisa; former deputy national youth leader, Afeez Bolaji Repete; son of the Ambassador-designate, Idris Ajimobi; media aide to the Power Minister, Bolaji Tunji amongst others.

Sources hinted that a key resolution made at the meeting was commitment to be loyal to whosoever emerges as the party’s choice after due consultation with national leadership of the party, particularly, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The meeting, it was gathered lasted for more than four hours.
According to a source privy to the meeting, the stakeholders agreed that the process to choose candidates must be all-inclusive.
It was also agreed that the President should be visited and they must hear from him rather than through a third party about his recommendations and advice.
