The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State said it has defied sceptics with the outcome of its Ward and Local Government Area congresses, which it described as largely peaceful and successful.

The party maintained that the development signals its readiness to secure decisive victories in the next general elections.

After conducting congresses across the 351 wards in the state last Wednesday, the party extended the exercise to all 33 local government areas in an atmosphere it characterised as peaceful and harmonious. The process produced a new set of Executive Committee members who will oversee the party’s affairs in the state over the next four years.

In a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the party attributed the smooth conduct of the congresses to renewed understanding, commitment, and teamwork among members and leaders. The party said these individuals resolved to set aside their differences in pursuit of electoral success, particularly in the forthcoming polls.

“It is a thing of joy to us that all stakeholders welcomed the idea of consensus as advanced by the leadership of our great party at the centre,” the statement read.

According to the party, the consensus arrangement encouraged various tendencies to close ranks and present a united front in most areas. It acknowledged that minor disagreements were recorded in a few locations but disclosed that an ad hoc committee had been constituted to reconcile concerned stakeholders and restore unity.

The party said it was preparing for the State Congress scheduled for March 3, after which the newly elected executive members at all levels would assume office.

It added that ongoing internal reforms would reposition the Oyo chapter for what it described as total victory in 2027 and beyond.
