A leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Adewale Kolapo Kareem, has assured party leaders and elders that his ambition aligns with the interests of the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Kareem, popularly known as AKK, made this known during a courtesy visit to the party’s leadership at its State Secretariat in Oke Ado, Ibadan, where he outlined his vision for the state. He described himself as a committed party member focused on contributing to the APC’s electoral success.
The visit also served as a congratulatory engagement for the Oyo APC Chairman, Moses Alake Adeyemo, following the successful defence of his PhD thesis at the University of Ibadan. Kareem commended Adeyemo, highlighting the blend of experience and intellectual capacity within the party’s leadership.
During the meeting, Kareem presented his 20-point development agenda, which includes proposals aimed at boosting school enrolment through parental support initiatives, improving teacher welfare, strengthening healthcare delivery for vulnerable groups, and promoting zonal industrialisation to drive economic growth.
Addressing concerns about the scope of his proposals, he maintained that the reforms are grounded in practical governance models and informed by his professional and global experience. He also presented copies of his book, ‘Our Realistic Tomorrow’, to members of the State Working Committee, describing it as a research-backed roadmap for development.
Kareem reiterated his commitment to the party’s internal processes, pledging to abide by its decision on the selection of its governorship candidate, whether through primary elections or consensus.
In his response, Adeyemo commended the aspirant’s presentation and described his contributions as insightful, while other party executives also acknowledged his engagement with the leadership.
Kareem, in turn, expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the 2027 elections, urging unity among members and sustained collaboration toward achieving electoral success.
