The Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi; the Chief Whip, Hon. Gbenga Joseph Oyekola; the lawmaker representing Egbeda State Constituency, Hon. Sunkanmi Babalola; and the lawmaker representing Atisbo/Saki-East Constituency, Hon. Saminu Riliwanu Gbadamosi, have denied involvement in any alleged move to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.

The lawmakers reaffirmed their loyalty to the governor and urged residents of the state to disregard the impeachment rumour.

They were reportedly linked, alongside some individuals, to a meeting in Lagos allegedly convened to discuss plans to remove the governor.

Fadeyi, who represents Ona Ara State Constituency, dismissed claims connecting him to any plot to destabilise the state or impeach the governor, describing the allegations as baseless and a calculated attempt by mischief-makers to tarnish his reputation.

He reiterated his unwavering loyalty to Governor Makinde, stressing that he would never participate in any impeachment scheme. He also denied attending any meeting in Lagos to deliberate on such a move.

Similarly, Oyekola, representing Atiba State Constituency, strongly refuted claims of his involvement in a secret meeting aimed at impeaching the governor.

He described the allegations as baseless, politically motivated, and a deliberate attempt to destabilise Oyo State. Oyekola maintained that he was neither contacted nor invited to any such meeting.

He emphasised his commitment to peace in the state and reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Makinde, noting that he remains a member of the governor’s party and dissociates himself from any actions capable of disrupting the prevailing peace.

Babalola also dismissed the allegations, describing them as unfounded and a calculated attempt by mischief-makers to malign his reputation.

He said, “I wish to state categorically and for the record that I was never part of any meeting, I am not a party to any agenda that seeks to truncate the progress we have achieved under this administration.”

In his reaction, the lawmaker representing Atisbo/Saki-East State Constituency in the Assembly, Hon. Saminu Riliwan Gbadamosi, popularly known as Wale Canada, reaffirmed his loyalty and unwavering support for Seyi Makinde, distancing himself from ongoing rumours suggesting moves to impeach the governor.

He emphasised his unwavering loyalty to Governor Makinde, whom he considers his benefactor.

He described the impeachment rumors as baseless and contrary to his political values and his positive relationship with the governor.

He highlighted that his time working with Governor Makinde has been marked by mutual respect and inclusivity, rather than marginalization.

The lawmaker reiterated his commitment to the success of the current administration and pledged his support for policies aimed at developing Oyo State.

He however urged the public to disregard any insinuations linking him to impeachment moves and stressed his dedication to good governance and the state’s progress.
