The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has denied allegations that he received money from All Progressives Congress (APC) proxies to facilitate Governor Seyi Makinde's impeachment, describing the claim as false and politically motivated.

Responding to the allegation, Ogundoyin stated that no money exchanged hands at any meeting, insisting the narrative was fabricated to damage his reputation and destabilise both the executive and legislative arms of government in the state.

“I was presented with enticing offers and opportunities, but I declined without hesitation because nothing can sway my conscience or weaken my loyalty to the Governor, the party, and the people we were elected to serve,” he said.

“I remain fully committed to upholding the integrity of this House and will not be part of any agenda aimed at destabilising the government we built.”

The Speaker stressed that he would never betray the mandate of the people or undermine the administration of Governor Makinde, reaffirming his unwavering loyalty to both the Governor and the ruling party.

He added that no individual or group would succeed in creating division between him and the administration or derailing the collective mandate entrusted to them by the electorate.

Ogundoyin further emphasised that under his leadership, the Assembly remains committed to constitutional order, good governance, and the overall interest of the people, noting that he has consistently kept the Governor informed of his engagements.

Addressing a separate claim linking his recent visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, to alleged political scheming, the Speaker clarified that the visit was purely consultative and occurred weeks earlier.

He explained that the meeting was to formally inform the monarch of his governorship ambition and seek his blessings, describing the visit as one rooted in respect for tradition.

The Speaker urged the public to disregard what he termed unfounded attempts to sow discord within the state’s political leadership.
