Ogbo assumed office through the signing of handover documents. He expressed appreciation to the  Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, for the confidence reposed in him, noting that the governor’s support had earlier led to his appointment as Rector and now Vice Chancellor.

He commended the university  and acknowledged the presence of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, academic colleagues from his days at Bayero University, Kano, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, and other members of the university community. He also reflected on key moments in the institution’s history leading up to his appointment.

The Vice Chancellor concluded by appreciating the founding authorities and past leaders of the university for laying a solid foundation, as well as his mentor for shaping his academic career.

He added that his guiding vision is to build a university anchored on merit, inclusiveness, and fairness, stressing that collective leadership and teamwork would be central to consolidating the institution’s progress and securing its future.
